I have been a blacksmith since 1986 and in 2008 started manufacturing and marketing a garden tillage tool known as a broadfork. I certainly didn't invent this fine tool, but I have worked on the design with the intention of making the best one available.
This blog is here to introduce you to the tool and to the spirit of the man that makes them.
I have settled for now in Siler City, North Carolina. It's a beautiful place and there is a thriving small scale agricultural community there.
The name Gulland is Norwegian, and translated means 'Golden Land'. It is my wife's family surname, and I chose it as the name for our broadfork company. Thank you for believing in and supporting a small family business.
